  • Elba Central School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher for our High School School-to-Work Special Education program. This program is designed to help students with disabilities build their academic, social, and vocational skills necessary for success in the workplace and beyond. The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing students for meaningful employment, fostering independence, and supporting transition planning.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals.
    • Support students in developing employability skills, including communication, problem-solving, and self-advocacy.
    • Collaborate with community partners and local businesses to facilitate work-based learning experiences.
    • Develop and adapt curriculum materials to support vocational training and functional academics.
    • Monitor student progress, collect data, and provide regular reports to families and the CSE team.
    • Participate in IEP meetings, transition planning, and ongoing professional development.
    • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom and workplace environment.

    Qualifications:

    • New York State Certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities 7–12 or equivalent).
    • Experience working with high school students with disabilities preferred.
    • Knowledge of transition planning, vocational training, and community-based instruction.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

    Salary will be based on experience at a step within the Elba Faculty Association Agreement, NYS Teachers’ Retirement and benefits package.

  • Elba Central School is seeking a caring and dependable Classroom Aide to support students in our High School School-to-Work program. This program helps students with disabilities develop the academic, social, and vocational skills needed for success in the workplace and adult life. The Teacher Aide will work closely with the classroom teacher, job coaches, and community partners to support students both in school and at job sites.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist students with classroom activities and vocational tasks under the direction of the teacher.
    • Support students during community-based work experiences, ensuring safety and skill development.
    • Provide individual and small-group assistance to reinforce academic, social, and workplace readiness skills.
    • Help implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students’ IEPs.
    • Supervise students in a variety of settings, including classroom, community, and job sites.
    • Foster positive relationships and encourage independence and self-advocacy skills

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education or human services preferred.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities is a plus.
    • Patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners.
